Senior Network Engineer
Education: Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent work experience in VoIP systems, Internetworking or a related field. Cisco Data and voice [VoIP] network experience and Cisco Certifications are desired: CCNA, CCNP, CCIE. CCIE in at least one discipline required. CCIE in one or more disciplines desired.
Experience: 10 to 15 years of direct relevant technical data and voice networking experience both hands-on and in a senior technical leadership / technical advisory role designing, architecting and providing in-depth technical support of Cisco based Data Networking and VoIP systems and technologies. HP Networking experience is a plus.
Functional Competencies: Network infrastructure engineer is responsible for the analysis, design, engineering and implementation of new systems and technologies (such as Software Defined Networking); setting and maintaining global network technical standards; provide enhanced infrastructure capabilities and innovation; provide consulting to projects and network administration. Must have leadership qualities, self-motivated, organized and able to deliver high quality of work in a multitasking environment. Strong presentation skills both oral and written with strong analytical and problem solving skills required. Exhibits consulting skills, business acumen, and the ability to translate complex technical network engineering requirements into business concepts. Must be familiar with multiple network technologies/management tools such as (but not limited to) Switching, Routing, Wireless, Load Balancer, WAN Optimization, VOIP, VitalNet, nGenius and upcoming advanced technologies. Knowledge of network infrastructure must include Layer 3 switches, traditional routers, and content switching equipment. Knowledge and skills necessary to select, connect, configure, and troubleshoot various networking devices capabilities: Extending Switched Networks with VLANS, IP Routing, Managing IP traffic with Access Lists, and establishing Point-to-Point connections. Must have direct experience and expertise with multiple network protocols and technology WAN, LAN, WLAN, MPLS, VPN, ATM, Frame, Ethernet, Network Acceleration / Compression Devices, DNS, DHCP, Network Routing (BGP, IBGP, EIGRP, GRE tunnels, etc), ACS / Tacacs, VOIP, Load Balancers and Network Management tools.
Preferred Certifications: CCNA and/or CCNP, CCVP, CCIE required in at least one discipline. Lead and completes tasks independently, with attention to detail and while under pressure. Proactively manage the network infrastructure through best monitoring practices and will ensure capacity trending and planning occurs. Ability to create and maintain network topology and related documentation is required. Ability to take the initiative within a fast paced work environment and be able to interface with a variety of functions at all levels within the organization. Strong planning and organization, flexibility and interpersonal skills required. Ability to obtain sponsorship and to prioritize multiple projects within the functional area. Ability to anticipate technological changes, communicate the impact these changes may have on the organization and meet the business requirements necessary to implement the changes. Familiarity with Internet enterprise and related web applications. Must be able to identify, analyze, and drives problems to resolution. Ability to handle complex issues simultaneously while effectively communicating across teams. Builds team relationships across the organization. Maintains strong values of integrity, commitment, and self-improvement. Effectively communicates technical actions, ensures audience understands why/what/when work will be accomplished.
